Who Are We

Mission Statement:  To elevate and maintain the standards of professionalism in the field of comfort pet therapy and its related activities.  We hope to achieve widespread recognition of comfort pet therapy and volunteerism as valuable forms of treatment and service.  As people who recognize and value the benefits of volunteer service, we want to share our animals and our special skills as a means of improving the quality of life for those who interact with our “Comfort Pet Teams.”

We also participate in the R.E.A.D. ® Program which uses registered therapy animals, with their handlers as teams, offering children an irresistible opportunity to improve their reading in a setting which has proven to be not only effective, but fun.  FUN is a powerful, motivating force for learning.

We are an organization of volunteers who provide interaction with specially trained handler and animal teams as therapeutic tools in medical, social service and educational settings.  For animal lovers, health care providers, and anyone who appreciates how animals and humans interrelate, this is an animal – human partnership in healing.  We have been established since February 2006.

There are many therapy animal volunteer organizations, programs and services throughout the country, and world.  These organizations provide registration, support, and insurance along with training and testing programs for members who are involved in volunteer activities.

We are Registered Members and Therapy Animal Evaluators for:

v      Love on a Leash (Chapter Member).

v      The Bright & Beautiful Therapy Dogs, Inc.

v      Intermountain Therapy Animals.

Our real work happens at the community level, with local volunteers in area institutions providing services directly to those in need.  We participate in visiting animal programs in hospitals, nursing homes, rehabilitation centers, camps, schools, libraries and various venues.  We are also available as a resource for therapists who want to utilize animals in their practice.  People-animal volunteer teams are the lifeblood of our service.  We work in our communities to improve human health by promoting mutually beneficial relationships between people and comfort animals.
